.22 Long Rifle - A single shot .22 rifle was my first shooter! I still own .22 rifles and hand guns! They are GREAT for target practice! Why do I like to go out and 'flip lead'? I really do not know, it is just fun for me and I enjoy it! I have not hunted for many years now but I still like flipping lead at targets. I used to hunt cotton tail and grouse with them years ago. When I go into the mountains to prospect, rock hound or exploring, I usually take my .22 pistol. We have some BIG black bears around here in the state where I live but I would probably use it to try to scare it off with the noise, I would never depend on fending off or trying to stop a big black bear with a .22 unless I had no other choice, although placing a good shot could kill it! You would just have to be a good shot and know where to shoot it! For years I hunted with a .264 magnum, a .300 magnum bottle necked down to the .264. WHAT A KICK when it shoots! I have made some incredible, long shots with it hunting big game!
